Christian

I sat in my office with my head honchos; we had to find the rat. I wasn’t in the mood to lose anyone else close to me.

Farren’s assistant was blowing my phone up and I didn’t know what she wanted or why was she even calling me. Seconds later a text popped up. “It’s Farren…please call back” the message read in all caps.

I instantly called back. “What’s up?” I said. The crew got quiet, thinking I had information on the rat.

Dolly was crying profusely. I didn’t understand shit she was saying.

“What? I can’t hear you,” I said.

“The ambulance is at your house. Farren is in there… she called 911 but they can’t get in the gate. Please help. Her friend said Mrs. Knight kept saying she was in a cage,” she yelled.

What the hell did Farren do? He thought to himself.

“I’m on the way. The code is 0508 and to get in our front door, the code is 1225,” he said, not caring that he was in a room of people he thought he could trust.

“I’m on the way,” he said and hung the phone up.

“Greg, ride with me man,” he told his best friend. Christian put his emergency lights on and got to his house as soon as possible.

A stretcher was being lifted into an ambulance. Christian barely parked before getting out, asking what happened.

“That’s my wife…hold on, that’s my wife, what happened?” he asked.

“Overdose. We need to get her stomach pumped as soon as possible,” the paramedic said and got in the truck.

“Overdose?” Greg asked.

Christian shook his head. “Dolly, can you call my mom and sisters. Tell them leave the kids at home with someone. Do not bring my kids up there.” He couldn’t believe this shit. He just prayed his wife through.

Her friend Robin was cleaning the kitchen up. “Who are you?” Christian asked.

“I’m a friend of Farren’s. I’ve met you before at her dinner last year. She called me and said she was in a cage, I was just trying to help clean up,” she rambled. She looked hurt by Farren’s suicide attempt.

“Oh okay, well I’m about to lock the house up, I’ll clean that up. We will be at River Oaks Hospital,” I told her, and escorted her to the door.

I didn’t know this lady and I didn’t want her wandering around my house.

“Why would Farren want to kill herself?” Christian mother kept asking aloud. They had been at the hospital for hours waiting to hear news about Farren.

Christian sat in a corner by himself, tapping his leg, praying for the best.

“Ma, we don’t know. She’s been crazy if you ask me,” Chloe said rolling her eyes.

“You don’t even know her.” Courtney hated the way her sister acted sometimes.

“Christian….Knight, family of Farren Knight?” the doctor asked.

“That’s my sister, why is my sister here?” Farren’s sister came out of nowhere. I looked over at her, and she was in scrubs but she still had her purse and book bag; guess she was just getting to work.

“We are here, what’s the news Doc?” I asked.
